Man found dead after car crash following shooting in southeast

Prince George’s County Police responded shortly thereafter to a multi-vehicle crash, where police found Demetrius Creek unconscious, suffering from a gunshot wound.

WASHINGTON – Police are investigating a shooting in the Southeast that left a 19-year-old dead.

On Saturday, Washington, DC police were called to the 1400 block of Howard Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found evidence of the shooting, but no victim.

Prince George’s County Police responded shortly thereafter to a multi-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. There, police found Demetrius Creek unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. It is unclear if he was the driver or the cause of the car crash.

Doctors pronounced Creek dead at the scene. Officers later confirmed that Creek was the victim of the shooting they were called to on Howard Road on Saturday night.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call police at 202-727-9099. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
