State Police are responding to a domestic incident in Sidney involving threats

SIDNEY – Multiple law enforcement agencies were on the scene of an active domestic situation on Sunset Ridge Road Wednesday, according to officials.

Sidney Fire Department Chief Richard Jandreau said police responded because there had been threats in the domestic incident, but he and other officers did not immediately receive further details.

Maine State Police responded to the scene and called the Sidney Fire Department for assistance around 9:20 a.m. A spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the incident.

About 20 to 25 police vehicles were on site around 2 p.m. Sunset Ridge Road is off Lyons Road, which was closed for a few hours Wednesday.

Sidney city officials urged drivers to avoid the area if possible.
