Police identify dead victim after drive-by shooting that also injured 4 men in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. — Police identified the man who died in a drive-by shooting Saturday afternoon that left four other people injured in the Franklin Park community in Fort Lauderdale as Michael McKinney. He was 33 years old.

Detectives have recovered the vehicle involved in the drive-by shooting on Northwest Eighth Street near 22 Road on Friday night, according to Detective Ali Adamson, a spokeswoman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

According to Adamson, Fort Lauderdale emergency responders took the five men shot to Broward Health Medical Center after the drive-by shooting occurred around 7:10 p.m., where McKinney was pronounced dead.

“One victim is in critical condition and the other three are currently in stable condition and are expected to survive,” Adamson wrote in a statement Friday.
