NDOT hosts traffic disruption management field exercise at Scottsbluff Airport

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), along with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) and regional emergency management agencies, are supporting a Traffic Incident Management (TIM) field exercise at the Western Nebraska Regional Airport in Scottsbluff on Saturday, June 15.

Please note that there may be radio messages related to this exercise between approximately 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. However, these are training messages, not actual emergencies.

TIM is a planned approach to detecting, responding to and eliminating traffic incidents. This exercise is intended
give emergency responders and those supporting TIM operations a better understanding of TIM best
Practices by bringing together forces from different disciplines through a
simulated crash reaction.

The aim of the exercise is to help responders understand the complexity of responding to an incident, particularly from the perspective of their partners. Pre-existing relationships and an understanding of the priorities and challenges of each discipline promote safe and efficient responses.

This exercise is part of a nationwide effort to improve TIM on our roads. Effective TIM keeps
Rescue workers, accident victims and drivers are safe. In the event of accidents or disruptions, TIM helps
Practices shorten the duration and impact of traffic accidents.
