Well-known Buffalo restaurateur dies | wgrz.com

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Tommy Cowan, a south Buffalo native and owner of several Buffalo restaurants, died suddenly Monday according to his obituary. He was 44 years old.

Cowan was well known for his work in the Buffalo restaurant industry, working in, owning and co-owning venues such as SoHo, City Tavern, Forty Thieves, Doc Sullivan’s and others.

An obituary shared by the James W. Cannan Funeral Home writes: “At Tommy’s table, everyone was welcome. Tommy was a well-known Buffalo restaurateur. He achieved his dream through hard work and big ideas that blossomed. His attention to detail was second to none. “

A wake will be held for those who can attend and pay their respects on Thursday, May 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the James W. Cannan Funeral Home in Orchard Park. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna.

Donations can be made in his memory to FeedMore WNY. Flowers are politely refused.

Forty Thieves and Doc Sullivan both announced on social media that they would be closed until further notice.
