Drying and warming up to end the week in Houston! Monitoring of two tropical zones

Today’s forecast:

Our weather pattern is changing today! An area of high pressure is drying out most of southeast Texas. There might be a stray storm along our coastal towns, but the rest of us will be hot, humid and dry. Temperatures climb into the mid-90s with a heat index between 100° and 104°.

The rain returns on Father’s Day:

Our forecast keeps us dry and warm Friday and Saturday. The chance of rain increases on Sunday after 1 p.m.

In search of the tropics:

We are seeing two tropical disturbances that have a chance of becoming our first named storms this hurricane season. Storms over Florida have a 20% chance of becoming a tropical system as they move away from the northeastern United States and toward the western Atlantic basin. Even without a name, cruise lines need to be aware that such systems can create havoc on the water.

Gulf of Mexico:

The same area of tropical moisture from the Caribbean will send a second wave of storms into the western Gulf of Mexico on Saturday. This system could bring rain to Houston as early as Sunday afternoon. Here is my opinion. The stronger this system becomes, the less rain we will receive. If it remains disorganized, we could see some coastal towns receive 6″ of rain. We will continue to monitor this system and let you know how it will affect us. The NHC says there is a 40% (average) chance of development over the next week.

10-day forecast:

Lots of events on this 10-day forecast. Flag Day is incredibly hot. Most of Father’s Day looks dry, but our first round of rain could arrive overnight. June 16 could be stormy with the first day of summer on Thursday.
