Former Spandau Ballet singer Ross Davidson raped a number of women and filmed himself molesting them, a court heard.

The 36-year-old Scotsman – known to his fans as Ross Wild – demanded sex up to six times a night and forced himself on his victims when they did not comply, the jury said.

As London’s Wood Green Crown Court heard, Davidson filmed himself sexually abusing sleeping victims, who only found out about the abuse after the videos were shown.

The handsome singer allegedly had the perverted fantasy of having sex with women in his sleep.

Because he expects to get sex on demand, he resorts to rape and sexual abuse when he doesn’t get what he believes he deserves.

A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in her sleep at the Cannes Film Festival in southern France and filmed by Davidson.

Another person was treated by Davidson as his “sex slave,” it was alleged.

Aberdeen-born Davidson is accused of a series of sexual offences against five women and the rape of three of them over a ten-year period between 2013 and 2023.

He is also accused of voyeurism, intimidation and controlling behavior.

Davidson wore a light gray suit and pink shirt when he appeared at the opening of his trial on Tuesday afternoon.

Prosecutor Richard Hearnden described Davidson as “something of a sex symbol” and very handsome – but said he also had “a darker side”.

He told jurors how Davidson played the lead role in the West End musical We Will Rock You and became lead singer of the Spandau Ballet in 2018.

In his career description, Hearnden gave his stage name and said: “As an artist and as a person, Wild was something of a sex symbol.”

“He is very good-looking and physically fit. He sings, plays guitar and is considered charming and charismatic.”

“His dark side is not the first thing that many women and girls notice about him.”

“But the women in this case can all testify to this dark part of his personality.

“He is accused of having raped, coerced and sexually abused numerous young women over the last decade.”

The prosecutor said “it is often believed that men like the defendant, who are blessed with good looks and star qualities, can get any girl they want” without using violence to commit sexual crimes and rape.

But, added Mr Hearnden, “reality refutes this assumption.”

He said it was his fantasy, his desire to have sex with a woman while she was sleeping.

He continued: “In this case, many young women have come forward and told police that they were victims of Mr. Davidson’s predatory behavior.”

“Because he expects to get sex on demand, he resorts to rape and sexual abuse when he doesn’t get what he believes he deserves.”

Davidson is said to have secretly filmed himself raping the first woman on October 1, 2013, after they had an argument at his flat in Finchley, north London.

Mr Hearnden said: “Afterwards he said to her, ‘Why do you look like you’ve been raped?’ She was shocked that he would ask such a question.”

He added: “Unusually, there is actually independent evidence of what happened.”

“The reason for this is that the defendant filmed it secretly. This is not the only video of him abusing women and girls that is being discussed in this case.”

“Why he decided to film this and the others is not known, but it appears that he did so for his own personal satisfaction and, one can imagine, also so that he could watch the videos in the future.”

‘FANTASY’

Mr Hearnden said the defence would argue that the sexual assault was merely a role play and that the woman was made to look like a rape victim.’

It is further alleged that he sexually assaulted the same woman by rubbing his crotch against her and saying, “This is what you want.”

He is accused of secretly filming himself fondling the breasts of a second woman – and showing her holding his penis with her right hand.

The woman was questioned by the police and is said to have had no idea that she was being filmed.

The prosecutor stated: “According to the plaintiff, the defendant told her that he had a special fantasy.”

“He said it was his fantasy, his desire, to have sex with a woman while she was sleeping.”

He added: “The woman says she was disgusted and dismayed when she learned about the video.”

Davidson is alleged to have sexually abused a third woman in Cannes, where he attended the film festival in May 2018.

Mr Hearnden said: “What he did to her was bizarre and perverse – he fondled her breasts while she was fast asleep. Of course she didn’t know that.”

“The complainant identified herself based on a screenshot of the video shown to her by the police.

“When she found out she had been sexually harassed, she was devastated. What is particularly remarkable is that she did not report him.”

Davidson is accused of filming a fourth woman performing a sexual act with him without her consent and later raping her in his home.

Describing the alleged rape, Mr Hearnden said: ‘She said she did not want to have sex with him and told him that repeatedly.

“She remembers pressing against or on his chest with both hands to emphasize her point.”

After he raped her, she went to the toilet and called her mother, the court heard.

Mr Hearnden said: ‘Her mother remembers whispering on the phone that the defendant had hurt her.

“She was simply calming her daughter down, not knowing that she had become the victim of an act without her consent,” she says.

“SEXUAL SLAVE”

The woman also claims that Davidson treated her like a “sex slave” and forced her to clean his house.

Mr Hearnden said: “If these things are true, the defendant was an extremely manipulative and sadistic person.

“She was used as a kind of sex slave. He wanted to have sexual intercourse with her five or six times a night.”

“When she said it was too much, he forced her to have sex with him.

She felt scared, intimidated and helpless. He was so much stronger than her and she was worried about her safety. She definitely did not give the defendant consent to this.

“He even told her that he had a preference for having sex with women while they were sleeping.”

The prosecutor said Davidson met another plaintiff in February 2012 through the online dating app Plenty of Fish and she moved in with him in March 2015.

Mr Hearnden said: ‘She woke up in the defendant’s bed to find him having sex with her while she was sleeping.

“She was scared, intimidated and helpless. He was so much stronger than her and worried about her safety. She definitely did not give the defendant consent to do this.

“Somehow she managed to free herself, went to the bathroom and put on a brave face. The last thing she wanted was to provoke him even more.”

The prosecutor said the woman remembered Davidson previously telling her he liked the idea of ​​having sex with a “model.”

Mr Hearnden said: ‘As it turns out, he didn’t mean a supermodel, a very attractive person, but something completely different.

“What he was actually describing was sex with a doll, a mannequin or a puppet, a model of that kind.

“He told her,” she claims, “that he liked the idea of ​​the other person, the woman, being silent, showing no emotions, and not reacting at all to the sexual act.”

“She said he never told her he wanted to have sex with her in that way, nor did she tell him she wanted to play that role.”

The court heard Davidson was arrested at his home on March 30, 2021, and questioned about one of the alleged rapes, two of the sexual assaults and the “sleep videos.”

The prosecutor said he stressed that “everything happened consensually between him and the women in question” and stressed that he was unconventional in his sexual preferences.

Davidson denies three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, one count of voyeurism, one count of intimidation and one count of controlling behavior.
