Manhattan teenager shot dead, investigation ongoing

NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – A teenager was shot and killed Tuesday in a quiet Manhattan neighborhood.

It happened just before 2:30 p.m. Eastern time on Spring Street.

According to authorities, the teenage victim was out with a group of friends after school when another group approached them on Citi Bikes. An argument broke out and shots were fired shortly afterwards.

The 16-year-old victim was struck in the back of the head and leg and was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The suspects fled on the Citi Bikes immediately after the incident and are still at large.

An investigation is underway.
