One dead and one injured after UTV collides with tree in Clearfield County

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pennsylvania (EYT) – A Centre County man was killed in a UTV accident in Clearfield County Saturday night.

According to a press release issued Monday, PSP Clearfield responded to a UTV accident in the area of ​​T-569 and Mease Road in Knox Township, Clearfield County at approximately 5:12 p.m. on Saturday, June 8.

According to police 28-year-old Nicholas Gene Vanwhyof Houtzdale, Clearfield County, was driving a Kawasaki UTV eastbound on Township Road T-569 when he left the southbound lanes and struck a tree.

A passenger of the UTV – 43 years old Stefan Lawrence Brinerof Julian, Centre County – was pronounced dead by Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer Snyder from injuries sustained in the accident.

Ramey EMS transported Vanwhy to Highlands Clearfield for suspected injuries.

The investigation is currently still ongoing.

Police were assisted at the scene by Houtzdale Fire Company, Madera Fire Company, Moshannon Valley EMS and Mountaintop EMS.
