New details on Ryan Garcia’s arrest in Beverly Hills – NBC Los Angeles

New details have emerged regarding the arrest of world boxing champion Ryan Garcia, who was hospitalized after being arrested while staying at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills hotel.

Garcia, 25, was arrested Saturday night after allegedly committing vandalism while staying as a guest at the hotel, according to Beverly Hills police. Officers were called to the hotel on a call about an intoxicated person and identified that person as Garcia.

The world boxing champion is accused of damaging a guest room and a corridor in the hotel. The amount and extent of the alleged damage have not been disclosed.

After his arrest, Garcia was taken to a local hospital for “medical care.” No information was provided about the treatment, but the athlete mentioned his hospitalization in some posts on X.

In his posts, Garcia wrote that he was “worried” and in a “weird hospital,” and compared himself to pop star Britney Spears, who has suffered difficulties with her mental health.

In a statement to NBC4, Garcia’s attorney Darin Chavez said the boxer’s arrest comes as he deals with “devastating news about his mother’s health.”

“First and foremost, we ask that everyone respect Ryan’s privacy during this difficult time,” Chavez said. “Ryan has spoken openly about his mental health struggles over the years and he is currently battling immense emotional distress. The support and understanding of fans and the public is critical as he navigates these personal challenges.”

“We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the resources he needs. Our team is committed to ensuring he receives the appropriate help and care to ensure both his immediate and long-term well-being.”

Garcia is now facing charges of vandalism.
