Investigation underway after Hinds County inmate dies in hospital

An investigation is underway following the death of a Hinds County inmate on Sunday.

According to Sheriff Tyree Jones, Cleveland Roosevelt Allison suffered a medical emergency before being taken to Merit Health, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Allison, 30, of Jackson, had been in the Raymond Detention Center since April 13 after being charged with forgery.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case while awaiting autopsy results.
