Euless Police – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A man is in custody and several residents have been forced to relocate after a wild police chase in Euless on Saturday ended with a car crashing into a residential building.

According to Euless police, officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 41-year-old Carl Finstad at his home on Donley Drive on Friday.

Finstad reportedly evaded arrest and was approached the next day by an Euless police officer who attempted to stop him during a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Ash Lane.

According to police, Finstad immediately sped away in his vehicle, and since he was driving at high speed through a residential area, the officer did not pursue him.

The same officer continued west on W. Ash Lane and came upon the scene of a car crash, authorities said.

Finstad is said to have collided with a parked car and run into the corner of a residential building before fleeing the vehicle on foot and jumping over several fences.

No injuries were reported in connection with the accident. Euless police said three apartments were significantly damaged in the accident and residents had to be relocated.

With the assistance of Bedford Police and a drone, the suspect was later arrested by Euless Police and taken into custody without incident.

Finstad is charged with assault and strangulation (with previous convictions) and two counts of fleeing with a motor vehicle (with previous convictions).
