Investigation underway into robbery on Meridian Street in East Boston – NBC Boston

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Friday morning in East Boston.

Boston police said they responded to a report of a robbery in the 200 block of Meridian Street just after 9:30 a.m. A wanted alert was issued for a vehicle wanted in connection with the robbery.

According to police, the robbery occurred outside a store. The suspects then attempted to flee in a stolen car before abandoning the car and fleeing on foot.

The investigation is still ongoing, police said.

Photos from the area show a section of road cordoned off with police tape and a bag on the street.

In addition, police posts were set up near a check cashing location.
