Rape: Man sentenced to 20 years RI for raping a minor | News from Bhopal

Bhopal/Jabalpur: A special Pocso court in Jabalpur sentenced a man to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rs 7,000 for raping a minor. The court also ordered him to pay Rs 100,000 as compensation to the survivor. According to the prosecution, the survivor had disappeared from her home and a missing person’s report was filed at Adhartal police station in Jabalpur. When she was found by the police, the survivor told the police that she and her relative had taken a bus to Nagpur where they stayed in a house for five days. During this time, the relative raped her several times despite her resistance. Based on her statement, the police registered a case against the accused under sections 366, 342, 376, 376 (2) (f), 376 (3) of the IPC and sections 4(2) and 5(L) of the Pocso Act. A special court in Pocso found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment.
