Updated – A Ventura County jury that previously convicted a man of multiple sex and other crimes returned mixed verdicts on the specific allegations against him in the second phase of the trial.

Last Thursday, the jury returned guilty verdicts against Edgar Rodriguez Ruelas, 41, of Woodland Hills, on five counts involving sexual assault and attempted sexual assault of women during burglaries in Ventura and Thousand Oaks in 2017, as well as an incident related to the Assaulted a young girl he tried to grab while hiking in Thousand Oaks in 2020.

But when it came to the specific allegations against him, the jury found that not all of the specific allegations were true, that his crimes involved great violence.

They believed the allegations were true, that the victims were at risk, that the crimes were due to planning and sophistication, that his behavior posed a serious danger to society, and that some of the crimes had occurred during a robbery.

Rodriguez Ruelas remains held without chance for bail and his sentencing is scheduled for June 5.
