Police investigation underway after suspected car theft leads to crash on Sawgrass Expressway – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) – A suspected carjacking resulted in an accident on the Sawgrass Expressway at the corner of University Drive Tuesday morning, requiring a significant police presence.

At around 6 a.m., aerial footage from 7Skyforce showed the car, a black Honda SUV, allegedly involved in the carjacking, with severe front-end damage. The SUV was traveling north on the highway when it struck a guardrail just past University Drive. The aerial footage also shows the bumper on the road and debris from the impact.

Live footage from the crash scene showed an active police presence as Coral Springs Police crime scene investigators collected evidence and documented the scene. Police appeared to be focused on the single car involved in the crash. One officer took photos of the SUV’s interior.

As a result of this accident, one right lane is open.

It is unclear whether authorities have arrested any suspects or whether there were any injuries in the incident.
