First Alert Weather: Summery weather until mid-week

ROCHESTER, NY — Rain from the latter half of Sunday will move out Sunday evening, giving us a mostly gray and muggy night. Monday will start with a fair amount of clouds, but we should end the day with mostly sunny skies. Aside from isolated showers, we should have dry weather on Monday. Summer will return for a few days next week, with highs between 27 and 30 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, before a pattern change takes hold later next week and over the weekend, with our temperatures dropping back to 21 degrees by Thursday and possibly above 18 degrees by the end of the week and the weekend.

As for rain and storm chances, we’ll see an increasing chance of some showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon, followed by mostly just showers Thursday. We’ll have some fuel from warm and humid air to fuel thunderstorms Wednesday, but no severe storms are expected at that point. We’ll lose a lot of that instability Thursday, keeping storm chances low. While we’ll have some unsettled weather with occasional showers Friday into the weekend, no day should be a washout. It’ll be the type of weather where we’ll see some sunshine, followed by a few scattered showers in the late morning/early afternoon that then taper off. Keep in mind that our average high temperature is now in the mid 70s, so “cooler than average” air is more likely to be in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
