Western Tidewater Regional Jail employee accused of burglary

The criminal complaint states that Perry and her accomplice knocked the woman’s door out of its frame.

SUFFOLK, Virginia – A Western Tidewater Regional Jail employee faces charges in connection with an alleged burglary in Portsmouth on May 19.

According to court documents, Jamaica Perry is accused of breaking into another woman’s home while armed.

According to court documents, Perry, along with another person, is accused of breaking into the woman’s home in the late morning hours of May 19, 2024.

According to the indictment, Perry and her accomplice broke down the woman’s door, yelled profanities and told the woman to “come out” after she ran into a closet with her children to hide. The criminal complaint states that Perry and her accomplice knocked the woman’s door out of its frame and it could no longer be secured.

According to court documents, all those involved know each other, and the alleged victim reportedly has a child with Perry’s ex-boyfriend.

According to court documents, Perry and her accomplice left the house after the alleged victim grabbed a gun and pointed it at Perry and her accomplice for protection.

In the documents, the alleged victim also accuses Perry and her accomplice of calling and texting her over the course of several days, with Perry allegedly threatening to shoot the alleged victim in the face.

Police arrested Perry on May 20. The Western Tidewater Regional Jail subsequently placed her on administrative leave.

Perry is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on June 25.
