3-year-old boy from UP brutally attacked by dog, hospitalized

The incident took place in Tantheda village Muzaffarnagar.

Muzaffarnagar:

A three-year-old child was attacked by a dog while playing on a street in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The brutal attack was caught on CCTV and sparked renewed debate about the threat posed by street dogs.

The footage shows two children playing in the street when one child moves out of the camera’s view. Suddenly a dog attacks the remaining child and drags him to the ground. As the child writhes in pain, a woman rushes to his aid, picks him up and takes him with her.

The incident took place in Tantheda village Muzaffarnagar.

The injured child was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed, but he is reported to be receiving necessary medical treatment.

This incident has drawn attention to the increasing number of dog attacks across the country. According to a report by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of dog bites increased by 26.5 percent between 2022 and 2023.

In response to the rise in such incidents, the Center issued a directive in March asking states to ban the sale and breeding of 23 aggressive dog breeds, including pit bull terriers, American bulldogs, Rottweilers and mastiffs. The directive also requires the sterilization of existing pets of these breeds.
