Teacher and suspended BJP worker arrested in Rajasthan

Vadodara: Panchmahal police on Sunday arrested two key suspects involved in the NEET crime that surfaced last week. Tushar Bhatt, a teacher, and Aarif Vahora, a BJP worker who was suspended from the party, were nabbed in Rajasthan after police received information about their whereabouts. While Bhatt lives in Vadodara, Vohra stays in Godhra city. Police had been searching for them after their names surfaced in the NEET scam three days ago. The Panchmahal Collector had received information that Bhatt was planning to help certain students during the NEET exam on May 5. He informed the District Education Officer (DEO) who reached the school with a police team where the examination was to be held. Bhatt, the deputy director of the examination center, was questioned and his mobile phone was checked by the police. One of the phones had WhatsApp messages from Parshuram Roy, who runs a visa and foreign education consultancy business in Vadodara. Roy had sent a list of 16 students with matriculation numbers and examination centers to Bhatt. Roy has already been arrested. Bhatt told the police that he was supposed to receive Rs 10 lakh from these students in lieu of help in solving questions during NEET exams. According to the FIR lodged at the Godhra Taluka police station, the students should not do this to answer the questions which they did not know. Bhatt was supposed to fill these answers after the exam papers were submitted at the end of the exam. Bhatt further told police that Vohra gave him the names of six students who appeared at the Godhra center along with Rs 7 lakh as a gift in advance. Bhatt was given an instruction to remain present later and was allowed to leave, but he disappeared.
