Karnataka sex scandal: Second rape case filed against Prajwal Revanna, say sources

A second rape case has been registered against suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who is under pressure over several viral explicit videos allegedly implicating him, sources told India Today TV.

The complaint was filed by a woman who accused Prajwal Revanna of raping her after she was kidnapped.

The case against the suspended JD(S) leader was filed under Sections 376(2)(n) (repeated commission of rape), 376(2)(k) (commission of rape as a public servant) and 354B (assault or use of force). Criminal offenses of violence against a woman), 354C (observing or recording the image of a woman in a private act without her consent) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Several videos of women allegedly sexually assaulted by Prajwal Revanna were doing the rounds ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka held on April 26. Prajwal Revanna was the JD(S) candidate from Haasan.

Karnataka MLA HD Revanna’s son Prajwal Revanna is absconding and a Blue Corner notice has been issued against him by Interpol. He is accused of rape, harassment, intimidation, extortion and threats.

On Wednesday, HD Revanna, representing Holenarasipura, was remanded in custody till May 14 on a kidnapping charge. HD Revanna is accused of kidnapping a woman who was allegedly raped by Prajwal Revanna.

Meanwhile, Prajwal Revanna’s former driver Karthik was asked by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to appear before them.

BJP leader Devaraje Gowda, who had reportedly alerted the BJP leadership about Revanna’s alleged sexual abuse of several women, was arrested near Chitradurga district of the state in connection with the sex scandal. During questioning, Gowda claimed that Karthik had a pen drive containing obscene videos purportedly featuring Prajwal Revanna.
