Two men arrested for possession of methamphetamine, machetes and drug pipes in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich – The Michigan State Police Traverse City Post arrested two men for possession of methamphetamine, including machetes and drug pipes.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (May 8) at 7:30 p.m. when MSP stopped their vehicle for an equipment violation on East Main Street in Kingsley.

The driver, a 56-year-old man from Traverse City, had an outstanding warrant out of Grand Traverse County for contempt of court stemming from a methamphetamine arrest.

Officials said a search of the vehicle revealed drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, at various locations.

During the search, two large machetes were also found near the driver and his back seat passenger, a 35-year-old Traverse City man.

Officers said they also discovered Suboxone strips were also confiscated from the driver and his passenger.

Police said they arrested the 35-year-old man and his passenger and are being held in the Grand Traverse County Jail pending arraignment.
