FIRST WEATHER WARNING | When will it rain after today?

(WSAZ) – A new low pressure area has formed over regions north of our viewing area (near I-70). As a result, another front has formed in this general area, with a warm, moist air mass settling south of these fronts and today’s low pressure prevailing. This means the region will again experience strong storms with gusty winds this afternoon, with localized hail and a very low but ongoing threat of tornadoes.

The majority of this activity should be limited to areas north of I-64, with a few energy sources being the triggering factors for these storms. As the front descends southward, the final storms will push through during the late evening and early tonight hours today and tonight. Lingering moisture will push out a few more showers overnight into Friday morning before the incoming cold air allows for a sinking movement and drier conditions for the afternoon and evening hours of Friday (except for the mountains where there will still be some easing). Activity). When the cold air takes effect, temperatures drop back to over 60°C.

Another system will begin moving through the region on Saturday, producing a quick round of storms in the middle of the day. Fortunately, we are not expecting any flooding or storms over the weekend. Another good news? Following this round of storms, we expect dry conditions as the region will experience sunshine on Sunday and much better weather for the day (with persistent high pressure).

This high pressure will move eastward on Monday, allowing a southerly flow to develop allowing us to see warmer temperatures (along with sunshine). However, this beautiful stretch is not expected to last for too long. The next system will move in quickly Monday evening and last through Wednesday, bringing more rain and rumbling to the area during that time. At least we don’t expect severe weather to develop in the region, which is nice, but it will still be a bit of a struggle to deal with the rain by the middle of next week.
