Connection between shootings in Vincennes

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – An 18-year-old already facing murder charges has now been charged with five counts of attempted murder in connection with a separate incident.

The two shootings occurred during the week of July 22. Calvin Wittmer was charged with killing a man on North Fourteenth Street in Vincennes last Wednesday. According to court documents, a witness told police that Wittmer and the victim had been arguing before the shooting. The killing followed another shooting the previous Monday. According to Vincennes police, officers responded to gunshots and said someone was at Good Samaritan Hospital with a gunshot wound.

The release states that on July 22, around 5:30 p.m., Vincennes Police responded to a 911 call in Autumn Ridge about a shooting. En route, officers received more information that someone had shown up at Good Samaritan Hospital with a gunshot wound. During the investigation, it was determined that two male suspects exited a vehicle driven by a woman and fired several shots at the blue Mazda, which contained three adults, a juvenile and a toddler. One of the adult male passengers was struck in the head by the bullet, which later required surgery in Evansville.

On July 23, the driver, Madalyn Dennis, 23, was tracked down and arrested in Lawrence County, Illinois. The next day, Calvin Wittmer, 18, was identified as one of the male shooters and was already in custody for shooting a person unrelated to the incident on 14th Street in Vincennes. Kyvon Ahmed, 19, was identified as the second shooter and was also arrested after also being tracked down in Vincennes. Both Ahmed and Dennis were arrested on five counts of attempted murder. Calvin Wittmer was also arrested and charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of murder.
