Two homeless people and a dead dog after house fire in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two people were evacuated and a dog is dead after a fire broke out in a Chesterfield County home.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, Chesterfield Fire and Emergency Services responded to a 911 call regarding a house fire in the 5500 block of Upp Street.


According to officialsWhen the first firefighters arrived on the scene, they found smoke coming from the front door and a fire breaking out in the house. They were able to bring the fire under control in less than 20 minutes.

One person was taken to the hospital for treatment of burns that were not considered life-threatening. Authorities said a dog died in the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting two people who have become homeless. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
