Air Quality Alert Issued for Natrona County Due to Wildfire Smoke

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – An air quality advisory is in effect across much of eastern Wyoming until 1 p.m. Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne said Casper and other parts of the state are currently experiencing poor air quality due to wildfire smoke from Canada and the Pacific Northwest.

According to weather website AccuWeather, Casper had an air quality index of 83 on Tuesday evening. An index above 101 is unhealthy for children and active adults, while a reading between 51 and 100 can be harmful for sensitive groups, according to the American Lung Association.

The NWS in Cheyenne warns sensitive groups to minimize outdoor activities if possible.
