Man dies after being hit by train and thrown from bridge in Van Buren

According to Van Buren police, a 59-year-old Rudy man is dead after being struck by a train on the Lee Creek Bridge Saturday night. With help from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Smith Fire Department, the body was recovered. The man was with two women before he was struck and killed. Police say the three were on the bridge when a train passed by and thought they had enough time to stop on the bridge. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday. The two women were also struck by the train but only suffered minor injuries. Van Buren police say it is a felony to enter the bridge and they are awaiting a toxicology report for more details.

Van Buren police say entering the bridge is a felony and they are waiting for a toxicology report to provide further details.
