ATLANTA (WCMH) — In the team’s final game before the All-Star break and the Leagues Cup, Columbus fell to Atlanta United FC, 2-1, on Saturday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, snapping a six-game unbeaten streak.

Stian Gregersen scored both of Atlanta United’s second-half goals, finding the back of the net just 17 minutes apart. The decisive goal came in the 77th minute with a header deflected from a corner. Atlanta’s win ends a five-game winless run in all competitions.

Diego Rossi scored the team’s first goal in the 36th minute, marking his ninth MLS goal and 12th in all competitions.

Goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen made four saves in the loss in his second straight game as a starter this season with regular Patrick Schulte currently away on assignment with the U.S. men’s national team in preparation for the Paris Olympics.

The loss is the Crew’s first since losing to Miami on June 19. Attention now turns to the MLS All-Star Game in Columbus next week. Five Crew players will play in the exhibition game against the Liga MX All-Stars on July 24. Columbus then hosts Aston Villa next Saturday in a Leagues Cup Showcase match.
