1 dead, 3 injured in accident near Davenport – WFTV

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said one person was killed and three others were injured in a car crash near Davenport Friday.

Officials said the accident occurred around 7:54 p.m. on the North Ridge Trail, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office’s traffic and homicide investigation has been launched.

Sheriffs said their investigation found that a 2024 Nissan sedan left the roadway while traveling at excessive speed on a 90-degree curve.

Deputies said the car went over a guardrail, through a fence and hit a tree.

According to a social media post, 39-year-old Alicia Carmona of Jacksonville was thrown from the car and died at the scene.

Carmona’s two children, a 15-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were injured and taken to hospital. Their condition is said to be stable.

Officials said the driver, 36-year-old Tiffany Alexander West of Orlando, was taken to the hospital with facial fractures.

The sheriff’s office’s Traffic and Homicide Investigations Division said West showed signs of impairment and a blood sample was taken for testing.

The sheriff’s office said the accident is still under investigation and charges are expected.
