Sheriff investigates incident near county park

DUSCHEL (WJON News) – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious incident.

The incident occurred between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. Friday in the 68800 block of 233rd Road near Darwin-Dassel County Park.

An 18-year-old woman was jogging when she was approached by a man described as about 20 years old, thin, about 1.85 m tall, with blonde hair, wearing gray sweatpants and a gray sweatshirt.

He was driving an older gray truck. The victim could not make out the truck’s license plate.

The victim described the incident as the man confronting her, causing her to run into the woods and the suspect to run after her. The victim said a Good Samaritan, who was also jogging, came by and chased the suspect away. The Good Samaritan was described as a man in his 50s, with white hair, blue shorts, a blue shirt and glasses.

This is an active and ongoing investigation and investigators would like to speak with the Good Samaritan. The Sheriff’s Office is also looking for video footage from surveillance cameras in the area.
