Houston Astros boss says there’s no timetable for superstar’s return

The Houston Astros have turned things around to the point where they are one game out of first place in the AL West with a series against the leading Seattle Mariners this weekend.

There’s a good chance they’ll lead the division with a good showing, something that seemed unlikely just a month ago when they continued to hover below .500.

With their roster healthier than it was at the start of the year, the hope is that the Astros can put all of their early issues behind them and become the juggernauts in the second half of the season they have been throughout their dynastic run.

The return of Justin Verlander and Kyle Tucker from injured reserve will go a long way toward achieving that.

The veteran ace appears to be getting closer to a return after rehabbing his neck injury. That will continue to stabilize things in Houston’s rotation after their tumultuous stretch that saw three starters undergo year-ending surgeries.

While Verlander appears to be getting closer to being activated, it doesn’t appear to be the same situation for Tucker.

General manager Dana Brown appeared on “The Sean Salisbury Show” and said there was no timetable for the right fielder’s return despite doing some work on the field. He also added that it was very likely he would need minor league training before rejoining the team. by Michael Schwab.

Tucker has been out since early June with a bruised right shin. He hit the ball with his leg during a game, causing the injury, which was initially considered minor.

But, it’s clear there’s something else going on as the 27-year-old superstar attempts to get back on the court during a season where he was posting MVP numbers.

This will be something to continue to monitor as Tucker has not progressed as quickly as expected.
