Dremone Francis, 26, was charged with capital murder in the death of Deputy Fernando Esqueda and booked into the Harris County Jail.

He is accused of three different charges, ranging from tampering with evidence to forgery and embezzlement of evidence.

Francis’ arrest came days after 44-year-old Ronald “Ronnie” Palmer Jr. was arrested in the case.

Esqueda was ambushed on July 10 after responding to an aggravated assault call at a Little Caesars Pizza on Wallisville Road.

At a court hearing early Monday morning, Francis’ bail was set at $500,000 on the tampering charge, but he was not given bail on the capital charge.
