3 dead, 24 injured in Doda accident

Three people were killed and 24 others injured when a bus skidded off the road and fell into a 60-meter-deep ravine in Doda district on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 10.30 am near Bhatyas.
The private minibus was on its way from Bhalessa to Thathri when it went off the road and fell into a 60-metre-deep ravine in Doda.
Immediately after the accident, locals, police officers and soldiers rushed to the scene to begin the rescue operation.
Upon arrival, rescue workers found a woman dead at the scene, while two other victims – a woman and the bus driver – succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
The dead were identified as Basheera Begum, 50 years old, Saleema Begum, 55 years old, and the driver, Mohammad Asif, 25 years old.
The condition of eight injured people who are being treated at the Government Medical College in Doda is critical.
Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh is supervising the rescue operation and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
