Man found dead after fireworks accident in Redmond – KIRO 7 News Seattle

REDMOND, Wash. – At around 2:30 a.m. Friday, police responded to a 911 call about an unknown incident outside a business near the 11500 block of Avondale Road in Redmond.

When police arrived, a man was found unconscious and not breathing on the floor.

The officer performed life-saving measures until the Redmond Fire Department arrived, but was unable to resuscitate the man.

The victim’s death was confirmed at the crime scene.

A nearby witness told police that the 45-year-old man had set off mortar fireworks in the parking lot and that one of the mortars had hit him in the back of the head.

Detectives were on site to ensure that the man’s death was not the result of an intentional or malicious act.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim died from an accidental explosion of a firework. No other injuries were found at the scene.
