2 injured in shooting in Tukwila after verbal and physical altercation

Two people are recovering in the hospital after being shot in Tukwila on Sunday afternoon.

Tukwila police responded to the 5200 block of South 137th Street shortly before 4 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived at the scene, two people were found with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital.

After an initial investigation, officers concluded that a verbal argument had occurred between the two people shot and another person at the scene. Police said the argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which the third person opened fire, hitting the other two. The person who fired the shots called 911 and remained at the scene.

Tukwila Police believe this was an isolated incident between the parties involved and that all those involved have been identified. The investigation is ongoing and detectives from the Major Crimes Division are investigating.
