Former LA County students featured in “Predator’s Playground” claim they were sexually abused

A group of former students is suing the El Monte Union High School District, saying they were victims of sexual abuse while attending Rosemead High School.

The lawsuit comes after Matt Drange, who also formerly attended Rosemead HS, released a bombshell report titled “Predator’s Playground” in which he highlighted the alleged sexual abuse that had taken place.

The alleged victims are calling on the California Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education to investigate both Rosemead HS and the El Monte Unified School District.

During a news conference Wednesday, lawyers representing the alleged victims criticized the district for failing to protect then-students from sexual abuse suspects Alex Rai, Wing Chan and Eduardo Escobar. The attorneys also pointed out that the district allowed the suspects to continue teaching and coaching.
