1 dead, 1 seriously injured after crash that caused truck to overturn on the 215 Freeway

One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash that caused a truck to overturn on the 215 Freeway Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just before 1:45 p.m. when police say a Nissan Versa was traveling southbound on the 215 at the SR-210 intersection at an unknown speed, according to a statement from the San Bernardino office of the California Highway Patrol.

At the same time, a Freightliner box truck was driving behind them, police said.

“For reasons that remain under investigation, the Versa suddenly came to a stop,” the statement said. “The Freightliner traveling behind the Versa then collided with the Versa.”

The force of the impact caused the car to crash into the guardrail.

Paramedics determined that the driver of the Versa, an unidentified woman, was dead at the scene.

A female passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with what police said were serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone with further details is asked to contact CHP at (909) 383-4247.
