Sarah Becker, star of “The Real World: Miami”, dies at 52

Sarah Becker, who appeared in MTV’s The real world: Miami in 1996, reportedly died by suicide, her family said TMZShe was 52.

According to the source, Becker has struggled with mental health issues in recent years after moving from California to Illinois to care for her ailing mother and sister. She also had a skateboarding accident that likely added to her problems, her family said.

Becker appeared in the fifth season of The real worldwhich took place in Miami, Florida. At the time, she was 25 and working in the comic book industry.

When the news of her death became known, Real world Co-stars began to speak out.

Co-star Flora Alekseyeun shared the news, writing, “I am beyond shocked and saddened to hear that my roommate Sarah has passed away. I can’t believe this. She was the most selfless person I knew. She was always kind and helpful to everyone. I haven’t spoken to her in years and didn’t know she was struggling. My prayers are with her family. REST IN PEACE my roommate, my friend. May you skate with angels and never be in pain again #therealworldmiami.”

Daniel Renzi published on social mediaand said he had “not spoken to Becker” since the show ended, but expressed his condolences.

“The seven of us in this cast have been through a bizarre, intense and at times traumatic experience together, and that creates a bond between people even when they choose not to associate with each other,” he wrote. “All I can say is, it’s very sad.”

Her colleague Cynthia Roberts posted in her Instagram story: “RIP Roomy. I pray there is happiness for you on the other side.”
