This ban was lifted on Wednesday. And the police issued a warning that the tobacco industry could sell its products again.

Christopher Covelli, deputy chief of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, said authorities wanted to bring the case to the public’s attention because police had received numerous complaints about the business.

The first complaints came shortly after the business opened in 2023, he said. The exact number of complaints is not known, but Covelli said the number is “significantly higher than complaints to any other tobacco selling company.”

“We have received numerous complaints from parents, schools and other law enforcement agencies throughout the county regarding this particular store selling to underage children,” he said. “Given the high number of complaints, we felt it prudent to make the community aware that they will be reopening soon.”

Authorities are asking anyone who hears of Moshi’s Tobacco & Vape – or any other business in the county – selling to minors to contact their local police department.
