Hove man charged with sexually abusing two schoolchildren – News from Brighton and Hove

A Hove man has been charged with sexually abusing two schoolboys and is due to appear in court next month.

Sussex Police said this afternoon (Monday 24 June): “Police have charged a man with sexual offences against two boys at a school in East Sussex in the 1970s.

“An investigation has been launched after two men, now in their 50s and 60s, said they were sexually abused as teenagers at the now-closed Tylehurst School in Forest Row.

“The crimes are said to have taken place between 1977 and 1979.”

“Raymond Langley, 75, of Clarendon Road, Hove, was charged with four counts of sexual intercourse with a boy under 16, six counts of sexual abuse, four counts of inciting a boy under 14 to perform a gross indecent act and one count of possession of a prohibited image of a child.

“Langley was the school’s treasurer/janitor at the time of the alleged offenses.

“He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 10, to be confirmed.”

Detective Constable Fiona Ashcroft said: “If you are a victim of a sexual offence, please report it to Sussex Police, no matter how long ago it happened.
