Naked man who was ‘behaving erratically’ dies hours after being arrested in Orange County

A 26-year-old man who police said was completely naked and behaving erratically when he was arrested in Orange County on Saturday died 16 hours after his arrest.

Anaheim Police Department officers were dispatched to the 800 block of North Harbor Boulevard around 2:12 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of “a naked male exhibiting strange behavior,” an APD news release said.


“The man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was completely naked, behaving erratically and exhibiting signs and symptoms of being under the influence of drugs,” police added.

The 26-year-old was arrested for public nudity and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Before he was taken to the Anaheim Police Department’s detention center, officers took the man to the hospital for a medical evaluation. On the way there, police said, the 26-year-old showed signs of health problems.

“Officers immediately stopped, rendered medical aid, administered Narcan and requested Anaheim Fire and EMS to come to their location,” the press release said.

Medical personnel then took the 26-year-old by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he died 16 hours later.

There is no information yet about the exact cause of the man’s death.

The incident was investigated by APD homicide detectives and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
