Forecast for Sunday

CBS New York

In many areas, Sunday could be the hottest day of this current heatwave so far. Maximum temperatures are expected to be between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius, while the heat index will be between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius.

If you’re looking for relief from the heat, you’ll find it on the beach, especially on the south coast, where sea breezes cool afternoon temperatures to above 25 to below 27 degrees Celsius.

But be careful, there is a high risk of rip currents today.

CBS New York

The chance of strong to severe thunderstorms will return in the afternoon hours. Storms on Sunday could be a bit more widespread than Saturday and include damaging winds, small hail and torrential rain.

Although the risk is rather low, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

CBS New York

The good thing about these storms is that they will mark the end of our heat wave and bring cooler temperatures and lower humidity to the region through Monday.

Another oppressive day awaits us until the middle of the week, before some real relief arrives from Thursday to Friday.
