Extreme heat and humidity until early next week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) –Weather days of the first warning are in effect through Tuesday due to dangerous heat and humidity. Afternoon highs during this period will be above 90 degrees. Heat indices will be above 100°.

Tonight will be very warm and humid. Low: 74.

THIS WEEKEND – Days with first weather warning:

Daytime highs are above 35 degrees. The heat index reaches as high as 38 degrees in the late afternoon. Stay as cool as possible. Keep an eye on those who may need your help. Pets should only be walked in completely shaded areas to avoid burning their paws. Children and the elderly’s bodies do not cool as efficiently or effectively as other people’s, so check on them often to make sure they are well cared for and comfortable.

Temperatures will rise to 99 degrees on Saturday. Highs of 98 degrees are expected on Sunday.

A front moving in from the north will bring showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. These storms could be strong and produce gusty winds.

The maximum temperatures are between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius every day. "feels like temperatures" in the hundreds range.

NEXT WEEK – First weather warning: Monday and Tuesday due to extreme heat.

The maximum temperatures on Monday and Tuesday will be over 35 degrees, the heat index will be over 38 degrees. Isolated thunderstorms are possible on both days, otherwise it will be partly cloudy.

MIDDLE OF THE WEEK:

On Wednesday the probability of rain and thunderstorms is highest, with temperatures just over 35 degrees.

A few showers could continue until Thursday. With highs of around 30 degrees, it won’t be quite as hot.
