Shooting at Gas Pro Travel Center in Bulloch County, one person in critical condition

Bulloch County Law Enforcement Authorities are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred at the Gas Pro Travel Center located at 9999 US 301 South on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. During the incident, one person was shot and transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The events began shortly before 3:00 p.m. when Bulloch County 911 issued a wanted report for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 80 East near Po Jo’s. Reports indicate the vehicles traveled from Highway 80 East, possibly to the Veterans Memorial Bypass and eventually onto US 301. Police officers intercepted the vehicles on US 301 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

During the altercation at the Gas Pro Travel Center, gunfire was exchanged with Bulloch County officers, resulting in one of the suspects suffering gunshot wounds. Bulloch County EMS arrived on the scene and transported the injured person to the medical center for urgent medical attention. No officers were injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Bulloch County Sheriff’s investigators are actively involved in the investigation to gather additional details about the incident. In addition, officers from multiple agencies are on site to provide aid and assistance in the ongoing investigation.
