One dead, one person in critical condition in motorcycle crash in Newport | Latest from WDEL News

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Monday evening, June 17, 2024, at approximately 9 p.m. on East Newport Pike at Curtis Avenue, east of Newport.

According to investigators, a motorcycle carrying two people was traveling at high speed when it crashed into the back of a car, throwing both the motorcyclist and his passenger out.

The passenger, a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital.

According to New Castle County paramedics, the 28-year-old motorcyclist suffered possible internal injuries and was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman, was treated for minor injuries.

The road was closed for about four hours while the accident was being investigated.
