Two women have been charged with first-degree burglary after breaking into a Franklin Square home early Sunday and assaulting a resident, according to Nassau County police.

At about 1:10 a.m., a 30-year-old woman called 911 after seeing a light in the basement window of her Park Lane home. Then she heard loud knocking on the door, police reported.

Ashley Dunn, 27, of North Bellmore, and Kelly Walsh, 27, of Denville, New Jersey, entered the apartment without permission and attacked the woman, pulling her hair and repeatedly slapping her, police said.

The woman suffered injuries to her head, neck and chest but refused medical treatment.

Dunn and Walsh were arrested at the scene without further incident.

At their arraignment in Nassau County Court, both women pleaded not guilty and were released on non-monetary conditions. The court also issued a temporary restraining order. No information about their lawyers was available online.
