Woman dies after being attacked by a cow while caring for her newborn calf

A 28-year-old woman was killed while working on a farm in Lisbon, New York, on Sunday (June 9). The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said Flor Lopez was caring for a newborn calf at Flack Farms when suddenly one of the adult cows attacked her.

One of the cows in the barn attacked Lopez, hitting her several times and seriously injuring her. Another worker called 911 and paramedics rushed to the scene. Lopez was then taken to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Officials with the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the circumstances of her death. They have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

No further details about the tragic incident have been released and the owners of the facility have not commented on what happened over the weekend.
