Tacos Doña Lena opens second location near Houston Heights

The highly anticipated second location of Tacos Doña Lena is now open in the Timbergrove area of Houston.

Colorful chairs, papel picado and pinatas have moved into the former Dak & Bop location at 1805 W. 18th. The space mimics its first location in Spring Branch with the vibrant colors often found in Mexican taquerias.

The wide variety of meats at Tacos Doña Lena (barbacoa, beef tongue, chorizo, al pastor, chicken tinga, pork steak) is presented in various containers: taco, gordita, quesadilla, torta, sope, machete, tostada or chanclaso. The birria is a crowd favorite. The new location also serves frozen margaritas.

The restaurant had a quiet opening without any social media posts, but members of the Heights Foodie Facebook group were quick to share news of the opening.

“Still the same great taste, ambiance and sauces as their first location. Bigger space and parking,” one member wrote.

Temporarily, Tacos Doña Lena’s Timbergrove location will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
