Fall River crews respond to incident after 5-year-old and 2 adults bitten by dog – Fall River Reporter

3 people were injured, 2 of whom were taken to a hospital in Fall River after multiple dog bites.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, units responded to a three-unit property on Aetna Street shortly after 8:45 p.m. Saturday following a report that a child had been bitten by a dog.

Police and emergency services investigated the report. Officers learned that a 5-year-old boy entered the house accompanied by his mother while a neighbor left the house with his dog on a leash.

It appears that the child was frightened by the dog and reacted by biting her leg. The child’s mother suffered superficial bite wounds while attempting to separate the dog from her child.

The child’s father heard the commotion and went to the entrance of the house to help. He suffered a bite wound to the groin area during the commotion.

The child and his father suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.

Pereira stated that animal control came to the home to take custody of the dog and begin quarantine.
