Former 76ers and Bulls legend Chet Walker dies at the age of 84

Chet Walker was one of the most consistent players of his era, never averaging less than 12.3 or more than 22 points per game in a season.

Chet Walker, a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, a seven-time All-Star who won the 1967 NBA championship with the Philadelphia 76ers and was inducted into the Chicago Bulls’ Ring of Honor, has died at the age of 84.

The NBPA confirmed the news of Walker’s death on Saturday evening.

Walker was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.

Walker is also a member of the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame for his performance at Bradley, where he earned nicknamed “The Jet” and led his team to the NIT title in 1960.

He played for the Syracuse Nationals as a 22-year-old rookie in the 1962–63 season before the team relocated and became the Philadelphia 76ers the following season.

In his 13 NBA seasons, Walker scored 18,831 points and grabbed 7,314 rebounds, averaging 18.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
